"REMENDANDO"
Precursor project of “Remendando ando…”, carried out in the historic center of Bogotá.

Walking among the imposing colors and the history told by the walls of Bogotá’s city center, I find myself face to face with a graffiti. Some say it is Manuelita Sáenz, others say it is Policarpa Salavarrieta, with a red nose, a sign that reads “Freedom,” and apparently leaning against one of the wall’s wounds. I sit in front of it. I thought: “This wall speaks to me; it is telling me its story.”
I then set out to carefully mend, stitch point by point, and heal this wound with yellow thread, a decision made by the passersby whom I asked: “What color would you like to mend your city with?” And who, for the most part, answered very enthusiastically: “Yellow.” I also used a needle and hook #2, which in garment-making is used for underwear, especially women’s underwear, with the intention of entering the intimacy of the wall.
Thus “Remendando” was born, a project carried out in the center of Bogotá, on 13th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, and which marks the beginning of the realization of the project “Remendando ando…”, an art installation selected to be carried out during the days of the exhibition “En Obra Negra”, a joint project with the University of the Andes, presented at Fundación Teatro Odeón.
